Thomas Tuchel confirms speculation regarding Nestory Irankunda’s place at Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich fans are still buzzing after the Bavarians struck a deal with A-League team Adelaide United for their wonderkid Nestory Irankunda. The 17-year-old will sign for Bayern next year, when he turns 18. There was a debate on where he would start his Bayern career: with the first team (like Alphonso Davies) or with the second team (like Jamal Musiala). Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed where Irankunda will begin:

BFW wrote the first article on BFW that mentions Irankunda and the report that came after the initial interest contained this:

Bayern have reached an agreement with Australian talent Nestory Irankunda (17). Adelaide United are set to bank ‘a substantial sum’ plus add-ons for the winger, who will be loaned back for the 2023/24 A-League season.

Irankunda is viewed by Bayern’s technical director Marco Neppe as a project player in a similar vein to Alphonso Davies. The equation for Irankunda is straight forward: another bumper season of growth in Australia and then he will immediately join Bayern’s first team.

Irankunda is technically a Bayern player already that was just loaned back to his former club for playing time; the quote also said that he will join the first team immediately which contradicts popular belief at the present. Maybe the club decided to take his developmental process step by step.
