Chelsea 'can't wait for 2023 to end' — what club plans to do for happier 2024 revealed

The Telegraph report that the staff working at Chelsea believe that 2023 has been 'horrible' and 'can't wait for it to end'.

The key figures at the club understand that things couldn't have gone worse for the Blues on the pitch, with Chelsea finishing 12th last season and remaining in the same position this term.

However, there is optimism that some of the players Boehly & Co. invested in will eventually come good and reach their potential.

The painful 2023 calendar year forces a rethink of the club's transfer policy. Chelsea understand that banking on youngsters doesn't work in short term and will try to sign established players in the future.

However, it's easier said than done. Chelsea have been operating within the Financial Fair Play rules by giving the players they sign a relatively low salary. However, the likes of Victor Osimhen will require much more than £100,000-a-week in wages.

The same applies to Ivan Toney. To sign one of them, the Blues 'will have to rip up their wage structure'. It's not clear whether they are prepared to do it.
